Dr. Kenia Alvarez

Originating from humble beginnings in Cuba, Dr. Alvarez’s journey has been shaped by an early love for sciences and a lifelong passion for learning. Arriving in the U.S. at the age of 13, she embraced every opportunity presented to her, which led her to graduate Magna Cum Laude from the University of Florida. Dr. Alvarez decided to pursue dentistry because of its seamless integration of medicine and artistry. During her third year of dental school at Nova Southeastern University, she became deeply fascinated with the life-changing world of dental surgery.

Since earning board certification in 2016, Dr. Alvarez’s professional journey has been guided by a distinct vision for dentistry. She is committed to bridging the gap between isolated specialty practices and general dentistry, fostering a system of open communication that ensures patients never feel caught in the middle. Emphasizing the core values of quality service, compassion, and expertise, Dr. Alvarez aims to redefine the dental experience. Dentistry is not just a profession but a source of joy, and she is dedicated to infusing that passion into every aspect of patient care.

Outside of the office, Dr. Alvarez cherishes precious moments with her husband and two delightful daughters, Kate and Madeline, who bring lots of laughter to her life. You’ll also find Dr. Alvarez exercising, dancing, and trying new foods at local restaurants.

Dr. Sherin Merchant

Dr. Sherin Merchant is a board-certified periodontist who loves helping patients feel confident and comfortable with their smiles. A Florida native, she graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a degree in Biology and a minor in Disabilities in Society. She earned her dental degree from NYU and completed specialty training in Periodontics at the Dental College of Georgia.

During residency, Dr. Merchant got excited about research, including personalized pharmacogenomics—using genetics to tailor dental care to each patient! Her gum grafting work even won first place in the school’s annual research competition, and she’s shared her studies at several conferences.

After three years practicing in Chicago, she’s thrilled to be back in Florida near family. Dr. Merchant loves getting to know her patients, building lasting relationships, and making every visit a friendly, relaxed, and positive experience—helping everyone leave with a healthy, happy smile.

What Patients Can Expect

The Patient Experience

When you first walk through our doors, you’ll be greeted by our comfortable environment and our friendly office staff. You’ll be invited to sit down and relax as you fill out any new patient forms prior to your appointment. Once those are complete and your hygienist is ready for you, we’ll invite you back into one of our operatories.

You’ll receive a cleaning, comprehensive exam, X-rays, and Dr. Alvarez will sit down with you to discuss the results. If anything needs extra attention, Dr. Alverez will explain the results and take time to address any questions or concerns you might have, and she will describe any further treatment recommendations.
